2007 Quilt Show Report

The Quilt Show Committee meeting was held March 26, 2007at 6:00 P.M. at Sue McGallard’s home – right before the monthly Guild board meeting.

If anyone is going to an out-of –town quilt shop or show, you need to pick up some flyers and /or entry blanks.

Don’t forget to be thinking about your Quilt Show Challenge quilt for the quilt show. It’s not that far away, and we need lots of entries.

Sue McDonald has accepted the chairmanship of the quilt guild booth for the show. Remember that she will need lots of help, as that is a busy booth. Also, remember to bring your magazines and bags of scraps for sale. The scraps should be placed neatly into a quart sized zip lock bag.

Quilt Show Classes

This year we are offering classes which will be taught by Tom Russell from Katy, Texas.  He will be teaching his Scrapbag Bouquet which was a challenge he did for Simply Quilts.  Due to the popularity of this particular quilt he will teach it both days.  It is a one day class so when you sign up you're only signing up to come one day.  There is a limit of fifteen(15) people for each class.  Cost is $40, which must be paid at registration. After the guild meeting we will open it up to people outside the guild.

Raffle Quilt

The Raffle Quilt for the show has been pieced and is being quilted. It is called Red Hot Scrappy Stars and was featured in a past issue of McCall’s Quilting Magazine. The tickets for the raffle quilt were passed out at the last meeting. If you did not get some to sell, be sure to do this at the April meeting.

Anyone who wants to submit photo to the gallery, give them to Gina and they will be posted on the website.

Copies of the entry form will be posted on the web site for those of you who need extra copies or know of someone who wants one. Just print it off. If it doesn’t look exactly like an original, as long as it has all the important things (front and back), it is acceptable.

Care

We need to remember Abbey Van Cleve in our prayers. As of Friday March 2, her blood count was very low and she was having to take a transfusion. Her blood type is O. I am sure that the Meek Blood Center would be more than happy to accept blood in her name.

Also her Grandfather Van Cleve has just gotten out of the hospital, so prayers for the family are appreciated.

Susan lost her father shortly after the last newsletter. Let our prayers be with her family during this trying time.

Let us keep Glenda Wilcox and her husband in our prayers. “He is doing some better in some areas. He has pneumonia for the second time. He has had a peg tube put in so that he can be fed. We are hoping for a good recovery, but it will be down the road.

I appreciate all your prayers and hope that you will continue to pray for him daily.” - Glenda

Please advise Sue Drumheller of anyone in the Guild that may be sick, or any closely related deaths in our Guild families. Just e-mail her at sd222@cox.net or telephone her at 695-3081 and give her the information.
