2007 Quilt Show Report

The Quilt Show Committee meeting was held February 26, 2007at 6:00 P.M. Sue McGallard’s home – right before the monthly Guild board meeting.

If anyone is going to an out-of –town quilt shop or show, you need to pick up some flyers and /or entry blanks. The flyers are ready now and the entries will be available by the next meeting.

Don’t forget to be thinking about your Quilt Show Challenge quilt for the quilt show. It’s not that far away, and we need lots of entries.

The quilt show needs someone to co-chair the Guild Booth. Jo McCoy had done this job. She is sorely missed and we need help in this area.

If you know of any vendors who would like to come to our show – please let Alice Griggs know.

You can call or e-mail Judy Luther at 325-698-2301 or hotrodquilts@yahoo.com or

Beverly Lynn at 325-690-1632 or cbnlynn@aol.com

Quilt Show Classes

This year we are offering classes which will be taught by Tom Russell from Katy, Texas.  He will be teaching his Scrapbag Bouquet which was a challenge he did for Simply Quilts.  Due to the popularity of this particular quilt he will teach it both days.  It is a one day class so when you sign up you're only signing up to come one day.  There is a limit of fifteen(15) people for each class.  Cost is $40, which must be paid at registration, and we will begin signing up at the next guild meeting on March 12.  After the guild meeting we will open it up to people outside the guild.  We have quite a bit of interest from people outside the guild.  If you are interested and will not be attending the meeting get in touch with me to reserve your spot.

Charlotte Williams:  692-5857

Raffle Quilt

The Raffle Quilt for the show has been pieced and is being quilted. It is called Red Hot Scrappy Stars and was featured in a past issue of McCall’s Quilting Magazine. Be ready to get tickets and start selling them soon.

Copies of the entry form will be posted on the web site for those of you who need extra copies or know of someone who wants one. Just print it off. If it doesn’t look exactly like an original, as long as it has all the important things (front and back), it is acceptable.

Care

We need to remember Abbey Van Cleve in our prayers. As of Friday March 2, her blood count was very low and she was having to take a transfusion. Her blood type is O. I am sure that the Meek Blood Center would be more than happy to accept blood in her name.

Also her Grandfather Van Cleve has just gotten out of the hospital, so prayers for the family are appreciated.

Susan lost her father shortly after the last newsletter. Let our prayers be with her family during this trying time.

Let us keep Glenda Wilcox and her husband in our prayers. “He is doing some better in some areas. He has pneumonia for the second time. He has had a peg tube put in so that he can be fed. We are hoping for a good recovery, but it will be down the road.

I appreciate all your prayers and hope that you will continue to pray for him daily.” - Glenda

Please advise Sue Drumheller of anyone in the Guild that may be sick, or any closely related deaths in our Guild families. Just e-mail her at sd222@cox.net or telephone her at 695-3081 and give her the information.
