2007 Quilt
Show Report
The
Quilt Show Committee meeting was held April 30, 2007 at
6:00 P.M. at Sue McGallard’s home – right before the
monthly Guild board meeting.
Don’t
forget to be thinking about your Quilt Show Challenge
quilt for the quilt show. It’s not that far away, and we
need lots of entries.
Sue
McDonald has accepted the chairmanship of the quilt guild
booth for the show. Remember that she will need lots of
help, as that is a busy booth. Also, remember to bring
your books, magazines and bags of scraps for sale. The
scraps should be placed neatly into a quart sized zip lock
bag.
Be
sure and get your entries in ASAP. There is one copy of
the blank included with the mailed newsletter. More will
be at the table at the meeting. I can email copies, or
copies can be found on the guild web site. The deadline is
May 18 to have your quilt listed in the program, but
unlisted entries can be submitted up to Thursday May 31.
Remember
to sign up to work at the quilt show. The show is supposed
to be a project for the entire guild, not just a few hardy
souls who are the committee chairpersons.
- We need people
to help take in quilts on Thursday afternoon from 4 to
7 PM.
- We need people
to help hang quilts on Friday. Able bodies are more
than welcome to come and help hang quilt. Some of us
older workers get tired climbing ladders!!!
- We need
kitchen help on Friday to fix food for the snack bar.
- We need
workers to work at the quilt show on Friday night, all
day Saturday, and on Sunday.
- We need
volunteers to help us take down quilts on Sunday
afternoon beginning at 5 PM.
- There are all
kinds of jobs – sit down jobs, walk around jobs,
stand –up jobs. We need everyone to
help!!!!!!
If you work at
least 4 hours on Saturday, your meal ticket is given to
you free.
If you have
signed up for the class on Sat. – work on the other 3
days. If your class is Sunday – same deal. JUST PLEASE
HELP ALL YOU CAN!
Quilt
Show Classes
This year we are
offering classes which will be taught by Tom Russell from
Katy, Texas. He will be teaching his Scrapbag
Bouquet which
was a
challenge he did for Simply Quilts
There are few
opening for the Saturday class remaining. It is
open to anyone who wishes to participate. There is a limit
of fifteen(15) people for each class. Cost is $40,
which must be paid at registration.

75years of age. Our prayers are with Evelyn and other
family members for their loss.

sick, or any closely related deaths in our Guild families.
Just e-mail her at sd222@suddenlink.net

Quilter’s Classifieds
If any of you have quilting related items to buy, sell,
or trade, let us know and they will be included. This
could also be a good place to list needed fabrics,
patterns etc
Two of our members have websites where they sell
goodies.

Newsletter
by Email
Please let me know if I can send the newsletter to you
by email. It will save $6 to 8 a year for each emailed
newsletter vs. mailed. Stamps alone are costing nearly $6
per letter per year per person. Contact me at VarnelleM@aol.com.
to request it by email.
If you requested your newsletter by e-mail, be sure and
let me know that you received it so that I will know that
I did it right. I can send it both as an email and as an
email attachment. Remember to put my name in your address
book so that your computer doesn’t think it is “spam”
and delete it.
If you received your newsletter by email, but you had
rather have it by postal mail, check with me and I will
change it back. |

Membership
If you did not get a notebook when you joined the
guild, please let Doe Bailey know. We are trying to catch
up on this.

membership list in it. It is supposed to contain the
bylaws and a membership list.
It has been some time since these were included with a
new membership.
Don’t forget that our new year is starting this month
and our yearly dues need to be paid. The amount is $24 a
year. Please bring you billfolds and /or checkbook so you

Mystery quilt – Part

May
Projects
We are doing noodle strips instead of charm squares, if
you want to exchange strips bring 12- 2˝” strips, cut
wof. They can be alike or all different. You do not
have to sign up in advance. Try this exchange. You can get
a lot of usable fabric strips this way. (Many fabric shops
are selling these as “Jelly Rolls.” )
If any of you
have not gotten your pizza box project or your round robin
project back let us know. Or, if you have one you have not
returned, be sure to get it back to the owner or, at
least, let her know where it is.
